Gold Rush
A downloadable game for Windows
v0.3.1 Changes:
- Minor bug-fixes and balance tweaks
v0.3 Changes:
- New unit! Bandits are speedy, melee units. Good at harass, not so good against cowboys
- New building: Bunkers are small defensive structures. Units can garrison inside of them to stay safe. When a cowboy is in a bunker, they can shoot outside of it, dealing damage without taking it themselves.
- Speaking of cowboys, changed their in-game name to "Outlaws" (hotkey is now T). Might change it back depending on feedback.
- Added in-game menu and the ability to gg
- Speaking of gg, added chat (is this real?)
- Maps now generate randomly. Map generation is not always perfect, but the new maps offer tight, defend-able spaces that are perfect for defending with bunkers.
- Added a loading screen because map generation takes a hot second.
- Miners now walk through each other when mining, makes gold mining smooth from all angles
- Improved particles for cowboys
- Improved the look of the fog of war
- Various bug-fixes
v0.2.6 Changes:
- More interesting maps and map elevation. Units cannot see the high ground from the low ground and have a 50% chance to miss attacks when attacking from low to high ground.
- Units go inside of mining camps to return gold. This makes gold mining smoother. You should now be able to place your mining camp wherever you please and your miners will mine gold without tripping over each other.
- Control groups now have a UI at the bottom of the screen. You can use this to see what units you have assigned to each group as well as how many units are in each group.
- Multi-building selection! You can now select multiple buildings at once and if they are of the same type, you can queue up units from a multi-selection as well. For example, if you have multiple saloons selected and you train a cowboy, then the cowboy will get added to whichever saloon has the shortest building queue.
- Ctrl + clicking a unit or building will now add to your current selection.
- Notifications: whenever you are attacked, or when a gold mine collapses, or when a building is finished building, or when a unit is created, you will get a notification of the event in your minimap. You only get a notification if the event happens off-screen. Some notifications will also give you a UI status message (i.e. "You're under attack!"). Pressing space will jump to the most recent notification.
- Camera drag speed is faster. Will eventually make this into an adjustable setting.
- If a cowboy is idle and they see an enemy, they will now auto-attack the enemy.
- Defend: you can now issue the defend command to units. Units ordered to defend will attack nearby enemies if they are in range, but they will not move from their position.
- Wagon unloading is a little different. The hotkey to unload is now X (changed from D, which is now used for Defend). You now have to press unload then click a place to unload units. The wagon will move to the place you clicked and unload at that location.
- Cowboys now leave a bullet sparks particle effect when they shoot something. This makes it more clear who a cowboy is hitting.
- Added new player colors for better contrast.
- Tweaked unit and building stats.
- Unit icons in building queues can now be clicked to cancel the unit.
- Various bug-fixes.
